BeagleBoneBlack（BBB)のオープンソースハードウェアデザインに基づきながら別バージョンとして開発されました。
BBGにはGrobeコネクタが２つあり、Grobeセンサー類との接続がより簡単です。
DCジャックは廃止され、ホストPCとの接続インタフェースを兼ねたマイクロUSBより電源を供給します。ソフトウェアとCapeはBBBと互換性があります。
